MH-47 Night Stalker Product Information

“Night Stalkers Don’t Quit”

The MH-47G, operated by the renowned 160th SOAR Night Stalkers, is the current platform supporting special operations worldwide. The MH-47 originally began as a mixed fleet of upgraded CH-47A and CH-47C airframes, with the rest consisting of D models exclusively operated by the 160th at the time. The MH-47D featured several upgrades that distinguished it from other airframes, including in-flight refueling capabilities and fast rappelling equipment for operators.

The next variant, the MH-47E, introduced long-range fuel tanks and a terrain radar system. These advancements were accompanied by new engines that provided a 20% power increase and an 8% reduction in fuel consumption. The current MH-47G is powered by a pair of -714A engines, each producing over 9,500 horsepower and consuming 400 gallons per hour, depending on environmental conditions. New engines currently in testing are expected to deliver another 20% power increase with the same 8% fuel consumption reduction.

As a continuously evolving asset, the MH-47 remains a vital component for those operating at the tip of the spear.
